how do i find out if dvd player plays multi region dvds please?
i need to get a dvd that plays multi region dvds but i do not know what im looking for
example in some shop you get DIVX playback EPG Days etc what would i have to look for so i know it plays multi region DVDS
Thank you to anyone at helps
DIVX playback EPG Days etc have nothing to do with playing multi region DVDs. In the US you cant purchase a multi region player. I dont know about other countries but I highly doubt theyre available through retailers anywhere. This is done so people in one country cant purchase DVDs from another country. The releases are timed. A DVD released in the US may still be playing in theatres in another country. They want to maximize theatre profits before the DVD is released.
Not all but many players can be hacked to play multi region. Hacking is a risk and a bad hack could make the player completely useless. For more info check this site. Lots of hacks, forums, tutorials etc. Ive never used a hack but its a great site where I find software and a whole lot of info

Multi-region DVD players are not sold openly in stores. There are two ways:
You need to write down the models of DVD players you like and search the internet to see if a regional code crack is available. You can then buy it and crack it yourself. This generally involves either entering a series of codes with the remote or downloading a firmware flash that you burn to CD and and run it in the machine. http://www.videohelp.com/ is the site I personally used to crack my own. Don’t use a crack that hasn’t received good reviews and make sure you follow the instructions to the letter, as a botched crack will render a player useless and the waranty voided.
If you are not comfortable with the techo-savyness of the above, you can buy a pre-cracked player on eBay or from a site that sells imported DVDs. jlist.com is one site that has them. Be prepared to pay more for a pre-cracked players.

In Britain, you CAN buy multi-region DVD players in the shops. This is because we are a free country…
Just tell the staff that you require a multi-region DVD player and you’ve got £XX amount to spend. They will tell you which players are multi-region from new.
Even if you buy a Region 2-only player, all the decent brands can be made multi-region, using a built-in manufacturers "hack".
